Want to grow my cricket, help Nepal go forward’ – Sandeep Lamichhane

“We are growing the game in every part of Nepal,” said the country’s teenage bowling sensation-Sandeep Lamichhane.

Not yet 18, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamicchane has already made quite a name for himself across the cricket world. The leg-spinner was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils franchise for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League and recently made his Twenty20 International debut playing for the ICC World XI against the Windies at Lord's in a charity match.

 He now turns his focus to the Caribbean Premier League 2018, and hopes the latest of the doors to open for him will help him improve his cricket and help his country rise up the ranks.

He gave further proof of his prowess earlier this year, when he was the leading wicket-taker at the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 with 17 scalps to his name and was a major reason behind Nepal qualifying for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 in Zimbabwe. He had a major hand in Nepal gaining ODI status for the first time, when they defeated Papua New Guinea by six wickets. Lamicchane picked up four wickets for just 29 runs to bundle out PNG for 114, which paved the way for an easy chase. We are playing Prime Minister’s Cup cricket right now in Nepal so that we can prepare ourselves for some good cricket tournaments, we are playing against MCC as well as the Netherlands. “We are growing the game in every part of Nepal,” he said. “We’ve secured ODI status for four years. We are looking forward to making an impact on the international arena so that we can be in the Test playing nation very soon.”
